branded cycle jerseys
This summer, two school boys (Toby & Chandos, aged 13), are earning extra credit in school for this end of year Charity project. Please help these rad boys to meet their target of £3000 for three charities very close to each of their hearts. With £1415 by, they are 47% closer to reaching their target and have just shy of 3 days to achieve it! They look pretty swanky in their custom jerseys, don't they! We'd love to work with more charities to design their own cycle jersey and help raise way more awareness. Dear All I (Toby) am writing to let you know that as part of my end of school project and to celebrate finishing Common Entrance at the Pilgrim’s School both my friend Chandos and I are planning to ride from Winchester to Paris in three days. We will be starting at Winchester Cathedral on Friday 23rd June and aim to arrive at Notre Dame on the afternoon of Sunday 27th June, having also visited Rouen Cathedral on route. The route we are taking is approximately 305 km. In preparation for this challenge we have already cycled over 105kms on a Wiggle race in the New Forest on Sat 8th April. We are hoping to raise a total of £3000 for three charities which are:- Allegra’s Ambition, Cancer Research UK and Bhubesi Pride. Allegra’s Ambition is a charity aiming to help young people through participation in sport and outdoor activities to develop similar positive behaviours and values to enhance their lives – and be happier people, like Allegra. A second ambition of Allegra’s charity is for young people to become involved in building the charity with their own ideas and challenges. Our vision of Allegra’s Ambition is clear – but there are many ways of achieving it. Allegra was always proactive and she had great ideas. If it was fun, if it was a challenge, if it was inclusive, if the goal was worthwhile – then Allegra wanted to do it. Cancer has affected us and many other people in the world. We have had two cases of this. First, my mum is luckily doing fine after her encounter with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. However, my god mother, Alison Denley, died recently due to breast cancer which was heart breaking. Of course, these events are happening every day and action is needed. The third charity Chandos and I are looking to raise money for is the Bhubesi Pride Foundation, a charity that Chandos’ father supported last year when he went out to Kenya to coach rugby for 2 weeks. The foundation assembles teams of committed volunteers to carry out annual rugby coaching expeditions, using sport as a tool for education. They work with schools and communities in east and southern Africa, children unite through sport, local staff are empowered and meaningful partnerships are developed to ensure sustainable impact for the long-term. If you would like to support us I have set a My Donate page. Alternatively, I know some people prefer to give charity cheques and these can be made out to Allegra’s Ambitions, Cancer Research UK and Bhubesi Pride.Read more...
'Cock up your Beaver'... Did you read that twice? I bet you did! Bute Brew Co are the very proud brewers of this unique beer. For those who aren't so familiar with Scottish history - Robert 'Rabbie' Burns is the nations favourite poet, who by no surprise did actually write a song named 'Cock up your Beaver'. He's known to have been a naturalist, a keen social observer and 'a bit of a player' - all round good guy, really... I'm sure! Tempest Brew Co (also available in enduro style). This story visits a few places around the world; beginning in New Zealand where two friends (Gavin and Annika) had a 'wow, here we go' moment. After sourcing all the kit and developing a recipe, the first ale - Long White Cloud was brewed. Fast forward a little while later, they set up shop in Kelso selling food and drink in their own little gasropub - but that wasn't enough, Gavin wanted their beer to have it's own identity; now known as Tempest Brewing Co. Black Isle Brewery is located just north of Inverness. Discovered almost 20 years ago by David Gladwin, a beer lover with a distinctive taste for mother nature. Every recipe uses barley and hops from completely organic farms - absolutely no use of destructive chemicals here. Famous for it's own functioning organic farm, growing barley across 125 acres of land and that's not the half of it! They also have 200 wee black sheep grazing amongst it all and one big cow who produces the milk for staff and visitors caffeine needs. They also have their own veggie patch! So you can replenish all bodily fluids and have a munch without even feeling bad! If you fancy a pedal as well, you can try the Blondes and Happy Chappies Route (approx. 1.5-3 hours long) After meeting Chris and Emily from EBF at a recent Sales and Marketing conference, we had an instant connection - beer of course! The Edinburgh based factory is owner to the Paolozzi lager; brewed with 100% barley malt and a brewing lifetime of 6 weeks, the Munich style lager beer has a perfect bitter sweet balance. Replenish carbohydrates after a long ride and don't forget to purchase your own here, right here Right before this years le Tour de France, Brighton Bier approached us with an appealing idea for us both. They were hosting their own Grand Tour brewery event and wanted their own cycle kit to launch the tour event with - and here it is! Pretty damn awesome if we do say so ourselves... Brighton Bier's; international award winning brewery is a mere stone’s throw from the beach, a short ride from the South Downs and close to the finish of the iconic London 2 Brighton bike ride. Did you know - I bet you didn't:
- The only other beverages consumed worldwide, more than beer are water and tea!
- There was once a 'Great Beer Flood' - I kid you not! London 1814 (Google it), people actually drowned.
- The Czechs EACH DRINK over 40 gallons of beer a year... No wonder they're the beer capital of the world.
- Here's one for your wife - beer is good for you apparently, because it has silicon which increases calcium and prevents bone density.
- And guess what... It was al started by women! You're welcome :)
cycle jerseys - and of course with an office full of 'non' professional alcoholic beverage tasters, we knew Gin was a no brainer! Gin [gin] (Noun) 1. A bar without Gin, is like an Italian kitchen without pasta. A liquor that is harmonious with almost anything. [caption id="attachment_914" align="alignleft" width="198"] LILLIARD GIN SHORT SLEEVE ROAD CYCLING JERSEY[/caption] First on board to work with us is Lilliard Gin; a light and elegant gin, with a complex floral palette (a taste for only the manliest of men). Situated by River Teviot in the heart of the Scottish Borders, Donald (the copper still), works day in, day out to produce a memorable and lingering taste of heaven. The micro - distillery itself is very niche and definitely worth a visit - there's various cycle routes around the area, if you want to make a day of it! Andddd, here's the best bit! You can purchase the Ginnery's cycle jersey here. Next up! Is Kintyre Gin; who differ from others because of their very own hydro-electric scheme that powers their copper still - giving Kintyre Gin unique eco credentials. Using 12 botanicals (2 of which our Icelandic moss and Sheep Sorrel and home grown), this Gin has a very characteristic taste. And just to clarify the Ginnery's tasting panel have described its taste as 'having earthy and spicy characteristics, being deep in flavour, with a very pleasant floral aroma'. Available to buy on our website. Jaggi Gin; is small batch of distilled Scottish Gin incorporating unique Scottish botanicals - all produced at the Strathearn Distillery in Perthshire. Jaggi Gin produces three premium blends; the Sweet blend (orange label), the Citrus blend (blue label) and the Botanical blend (green label), all as equally mouth-watering as each other and of course, all traditionally hand-crafted. This jersey is available for sale now. Tyree Gin; a recipe made with Kelp and Machair botanicals from the Inner Hebridean island of Tiree. Although at this moment in time the gin is not produced on the island itself, production is planned to be relocated and on the island within the next 3 years. Did you know: 'Tyree' was the original spelling for Tiree's Post Office, established in 1802, it was later changed to 'Tiree' to avoid Tyrie in Aberdeenshire - who knew there was so many Tiree's around?! We are very fond of the island over here at tcj, so are super chuffed to have helped design and manufacture their very own cycle jersey. Loch Ness Spirits; are true craft spirits made with Loch Ness water and botanicals: an authentic taste of the Highlands. Lorien and husband, Kevin have lived in the Highlands their whole lives, and their roots go more than five generations back! Lorien quickly understood the connection between cycling and alcohol - they really do go hand-in-hand! Especially with all the nature and cycle paths/ off roading Scotland graces us with. Please Note: Our standard stock jerseys are manufactured with short sleeves and a 3/4 length concealed zip. Any other available options will be made to order and will be manufactured within 3-5 working days. Jaggi Gin; the premium Scottish Craft Gin. Design a Custom Jersey and Match your BikeDon't trust a M.A.M.I.L (middle aged man in Lycra), taking to the roads on a brand new, shiny road bike - blinding you of the road in front, with a 4 figure price tag, fully complete wearing an official team kit head - to -toe! They're convincing themselves that you think, they know what they're doing... They're wrong, so very wrong. Of course, they'd know that Team Sky don't wear such thing. Now resulting in the terrible monstrosity of a mismatching bike and kit! We're here with our mass printing and customisable abilities to help solve this cringe worthy and reoccurring problem in the market. Remember: you have to look good on the bike, and your bike has to look good on you. You're also somebodies parent, partner or friend! Word gets out fast... So let's help you match your machine! We stock both road and freeride/ enduro style jerseys and we have just launched ladies specific stock designs. If you'd like your very own cycle jersey that isn't available on the high street, then check out our semi and fully custom services, you can design it from scratch; from fit, to sleeve length, pockets and grippers. Check out some we made earlier @thecyclejersey. While you now have the information and sources to match your kit to your bike, here's a few more to bare in mind:
- Wear it right - keep it tight! MTB kit is not for multipurpose use, so to avoid self humiliation I'm afraid us roadies have to stick to Lycra bibs.
- Leave your knickers at home. Yep.. We went there. Our bib shorts are designed using a high stretch, mesh panel and breathable fabric. This will avoid saddle sores and help aid a comfortable ride.
