Whisky Cycling Jerseys

by The Cycle Jersey |

For 2017 we decided to introduce a couple of new brands to our collection of already existing whisky cycle jerseys - and of course with an office full of 'non' professional alcoholic beverage tasters, we knew  these distilleries were a no brainer!

Whisky [wiski]

(Noun) 1.  The term whisky comes from the Gaelic 'uisge beatha', or 'usquebaugh', meaning 'water of life'. Gaelic is that branch of Celtic traditionally spoken in the Highlands of Scotland.

NEW ARBEG 2017 - FRArdbeg Distillery creates a new look for 2017!

A distillery much more aged than others, isolated on a small and remote Scottish Isle - Islay.  A place where dreams come true; through the advice of a pal or following the lead of a non ignorable aroma.  The only way to understand this feeling we're describing, is to venture along the winding road from Port Ellen, knock back a dram with a breeze through your hair.

ARRAN BLOG IMAGE Arran Distillery creates its first distillery cycle jersey!

You are probably well aware, we are very big whisky fans at TCJ to say the least!  Designing and stocking some of Scotland's biggest whisky brands from  coastal islands - Isle of Skye and the Isle of Islay, which of course are home to iconic single malts including: ArdbegBruichladdich and Talisker.

Today, the Distillery is the only one on Arran!  Celebrating its 21st anniversary in June 2016 and throughout its years has produced a variety of ages and expressions.  The distillery also created a historic moment in 1998; opening their first cask of Arran Single Malt Scotch Whisky, also making it the first legal dram on Arran for over 160 years!

Whilst making whisky is a slow process, life on Arran runs to its own rhythm.  As well as being home to the only distillery - there's also plenty of cycle routes to explore and an annual Malt & Music Festival.

So you can mix your two loves together and enjoy a post-ride ritual with a recovery session including a dram!

RASSAY -FRThe Isle of Rassay Distillery .

The first legal distillery on this island!  Is to begin producing handcrafted whisky this summer!

This little island is popularly known for 'Calum's Road' a man made road built between 1960 -70.  The story of Calum MacLeod is a compelling one; there's a plaque placed on a historic cairn at a vocal point of this incredible road that states 'this former footpath to Arnish - a distance of 1¾ miles - was widened to a single track road with passing places and prepared for surfacing by Malcolm MacLeod BEM... He accomplished this work single-handedly over a period of ten years'.
