The Nairn’s collection is growing again but this time we don’t have just a new colour but also a new pattern in the form of the Nairn’s tartan jersey. This smashing new jersey won’t only have you looking great but feeling great too as 10% of every jersey sale goes straight to The Venchie- Children and Young Peoples Project.
The Venchie has been looking after children and young people in Niddrie and Craigmillar (Edinburgh) for over 50 years. These children are living in poverty through no fault of their own and for many, the only hope of getting to school is The Venchie collecting them every morning, feeding them and helping prepare them to face the day.
On a Monday, it is not unusual for some of these children to have barely eaten over the weekend and The Venchies ‘open table’ approach to food allows these children to eat what they need to.
The center offers a range of play, recreation and issue-based youth work activities and is staffed by a team of 4 permanent staff and a number of volunteers.
With cuts to their funding, this charity is living more ‘hand to mouth’ than ever before and Nairn’s are supporting them throughout 2020 as their charity of the year. The Venchie is only located a few minutes’ walk from the bakery so it is a charity close to their hearts.
