If like us you find yourself reaching for the coffee as soon as you wake up in the morning then you might be pleased to know that you don’t need to then have a pre-workout shake before you work out. Coffee is actually a great pre-workout drink as long as you leave it plenty of time to sink in before you need that additional boost to get you through your workout.
We recommend that you drink your coffee roughly 45 minutes before you plan on working out. That way your body has plenty of time to absorb the caffeine and fuel you for that little bit more oomph that you need.
An even better idea is to add your shot of coffee to your protein shake! We have a couple go to recipes but the resounding office favourite seems to be the vanilla, almond milk iced coffee protein shake.
Iced Coffee Protein Shake
- Almond milk
- Cold coffee
- 1 Frozen banana
- 1 scoop of your favourite vanilla protein powder
We don’t have a specific way to make this shake and by the sounds of it we all seem to make it slightly different but we do recommend that you just make it to your own taste an own thickness preference 😊 If you also are not a fan of vanilla protein powder just swap it out for chocolate protein powder. The good thing about these coffee shakes is that there are literally no rules to follow and you can make them however you would like so go wild!
